Several new mobile attacks have emerged that threaten enterprises. Most are re-using old tactics against mobilespecific services, such as SideStepper’s use of Man-In-The-Middle (MITM) against MDM, rather than employing new techniques or exploiting new vulnerabilities. However, when attacks against users are successful, they can result in the loss of both personal and business data. Download now to learn how to increase your mobile security.

Effective security for cloud-hosted web applications requires full visibility into the environment in which the apps live and the potential exposure to vulnerabilities — and to do so consistently, while proactively monitoring for attacks without causing delays in application development and delivery. Cloud adoption means that a focus on perimeter security is not sufficient and may even be obstructive, because it can impact application performance and availability. Similarly, relying on your cloud service provider’s security services is insufficient; any provider will tell you that securing the cloud environment is a shared responsibility between cloud service provider and customer, and the responsibility for specifically securing web applications is the sole responsibility of the customer. And although the industry as a whole has become better at protecting lower-level network and server resources, as attackers look for targets, they are moving up the application stack.

Safeguarding your data is more important than ever. In today’s data-driven business landscape, companies are using their data to innovate, inform product improvements, and personalize services for their customers. The sheer volume of data collected for these purposes keeps growing, but the solutions available to organizations for processing and analyzing it become more efficient and intuitive every day. Reaching the right customers at the right time with the right offers has never been easier. With this newfound agility, however, comes new opportunities for vulnerability. With so much riding on the integrity of your data and the services that make it secure and available, it’s crucial to have a plan in place for unexpected events that can wipe out your physical IT environment or otherwise compromise data access. The potential for natural disasters, malicious software attacks, and other unforeseen events necessitates that companies implement a robust disaster recovery (DR) strategy to

Every year, organizations spend millions of frustrating hours and countless sums of money trying to reverse the damage done by malware attacks. The harm caused by malware can be astronomical, going well beyond intellectual property loss and huge fines levied for non-compliance. In 2014, the cost of malware attacks and resulting breaches was estimated at $491 billion. And these costs include more than just the money spent trying to directly respond to security breaches. Productivity, long-term profitability, and brand reputation are often severely impacted as well.

The traditional approach to cybersecurity has been to use a prevention-centric strategy focused on blocking attacks. While prevention-centric approaches do stop many threats, many of today’s advanced and motivated threat actors are circumventing these defenses with creative, stealthy, targeted, and persistent attacks that often go undetected for significant periods of time.

One of the biggest challenges to effectively stopping breaches lies in sifting through vast amounts of data to find the proverbial “needle in the haystack” – the subtle clues that indicate an attack is imminent or underway. As modern computer systems generate billions of events daily, the amount of data to analyze can reach petabytes. Compounding the problem, the data is often unstructured, discrete and disconnected. As a result, organizations struggle to determine how individual events may be connected to signal an impending attack. In this context, detecting attacks is often difficult, and sometimes impossible. This white paper describes how CrowdStrike solved this challenge by building its own graph data model – the CrowdStrike Threat Graph? – to collect and analyze extremely large volumes of security-related data, and ultimately, to stop breaches. This revolutionary approach applies massive graph-based technologies, similar to the ones developed by Facebook and Google, to detect k

A zero-day threat is a vulnerability that becomes known to the vendor on the same day it becomes known to the public, meaning IT assets targeted by a zero-day threat won't have a patch available when it's needed. However, zero-day attacks operate in a realm of the probable - they work only because there are exploitable vulnerabilities within IT systems. Many of these can, and should be prevented. This guide describes why organizations are vulnerable to zero-day attacks, and what you can do to add a zero-day offense to your existing vulnerability management processes to protect your organization's assets and data.

Continuous Monitoring has become an overused and overhyped term in security circles, driven by US Government mandate (now called Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation). But that doesn’t change the fact that monitoring needs to be a cornerstone of your security program, within the context of a risk-based paradigm. This paper from Securosis discusses Continuous Security Monitoring, including how to do it, and the most applicable use cases they have seen in the real world. It also provides a step-by-step guide for things to do for each use case to move forward with a monitoring initiative.
